Specific Duties:
1) Assist with care of the patients.
a) Maintains general knowledge of wheelchairs, stretchers and other equipment used in patient transporting.
b) Assist with lifting patients, and transporting patients to other departments while demonstrating proper body mechanics.
c) Correctly uses the patient moving board as needed.
d) Responsible for patient care while transporting.
e) Performs hand off procedure for every transport.
f) Complete transport checklist for every transport.
g) Always checks patient identification band and compare to Ticket to Ride before transporting patients.
h) Observes all IV lines, chest tubes, oxygen lines, or other tubing carefully on all patients during transport.
i) Able to evaluate if a patient is able to be transported by wheelchair or if they need a stretcher.
j) Observes infection control procedure during and after any patient contact.
k) Is able to demonstrate competency in age specific criteria as applicable to job scope.
l) Maintain cleanness of stretchers and wheelchairs.
m) Observes all hospital safety policies at all times.
2) Assist in providing needed supplies.
a) Pick up, deliver and store supplies, records, and/or requests in appropriate place.
b) Stocks linen and supplies in patient holding as needed.
c) Check oxygen supply daily and replenish as needed.
3) Assist technologists as requested.
a) Assist technologist in the radiology rooms as directed.
b) Process cassettes on CR reader as requested.
4) Participate in educational programs.
a) Attend department meetings and in-services.
b) Successfully complete annual hospital compliance programs.
c) Successfully complete annual competency.
5) Maintain satisfactory communications.
a) Demonstrate clear and accurate lines of communication.

7) Demonstrate knowledge of Hospital Safety.
a) Knowledgeable of all Hospital safety codes and performs all duties during both drill and actual emergencies.
b) Report all incidences, accidents, equipment problems and unsafe conditions to the Supervisor immediately.
8) Perform all other duties as requested by Supervisor, Diagnostics Manager or Diagnostics Director.
ORIENTATION:
The Patient Transport Assistant will be required to successfully complete a checklist of skills.
CPR certification preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
